ALEJANDRO CREMADES: The Rise of a Modern Deal Maker
A Year Inside the Inner Circle
For nearly a year, I joined Alejandro Cremades’ private Inner‑Circle Founder Group — a monthly gathering of entrepreneurs who wanted to learn the real mechanics of fundraising, dealmaking, and scaling. Alejandro wasn’t just teaching; he was transmitting a mindset. Precision. Discipline. Global thinking. And above all, accessibility — the belief that entrepreneurship should not be reserved for the privileged few.
That experience gave us a front‑row seat to the rise of one of the most influential Latino voices in the global startup ecosystem.
From Madrid to New York: The Global Roots of a Deal Maker
Born in Zurich and raised in Madrid, Alejandro grew up in a household where education and discipline were non‑negotiable. His mother famously never told him he had been drafted to play soccer for Real Madrid — she wanted him focused on academics.
He earned his law degree at Universidad San Pablo CEU and moved to New York at 22 to pursue a Master’s in International Business & Trade Law at Fordham. That legal foundation would become the backbone of his future career.
The Chevron Case: A Crash Course in High‑Stakes Negotiation
Before entrepreneurship, Alejandro worked at King & Spalding on one of the largest investment arbitration cases in history: Chevron v. Ecuador, involving $113 billion. It was a masterclass in global capital flows, negotiation, and regulatory complexity.
But Alejandro wasn’t built for the courtroom — he was built for the founder arena.
RockThePost → Onevest → CoFoundersLab: Building the Infrastructure for Founders
In 2012, he launched RockThePost, a platform designed to democratize fundraising. It quickly gained recognition from Time, Forbes, and Business Insider.
Then came the big moves:
- 2014: Acquired CoFoundersLab
- 2016: Acquired FounderDating
- 2018: Sold Onevest/CoFoundersLab to Business Rockstars
By then, the ecosystem had grown to 400,000+ entrepreneurs, becoming one of the largest founder‑matching networks in the world.
Alejandro didn’t just build a company — he built infrastructure.
Influencing Policy: Congress & The White House
In 2013, Alejandro testified before the U.S. House Committee on Small Business about equity crowdfunding and later visited The White House. His advocacy helped shape the early interpretation of the JOBS Act and opened doors for founders who previously had no access to capital.
The Art of Startup Fundraising: A Global Best‑Seller
In 2016, he published The Art of Startup Fundraising (Wiley), with a foreword by Barbara Corcoran. The book became a global reference for founders and was named one of the best entrepreneurship books by Inc. and Book Authority.
Educator, Connector, Global Voice
Alejandro has lectured at NYU Stern, Wharton, and Columbia, and has been featured in GQ, Vanity Fair, Entrepreneur, and TechCrunch. His Dealmakers Podcast continues to spotlight founders who have raised billions collectively.
