Supporting families affected by the Venezuela earthquakes
In the wake of the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, search and rescue teams are working around the clock to find survivors, provide medical care, and offer emergency shelter to families who have lost their homes. The Venezuelan Red Cross, local authorities, and international rescue teams are coordinating efforts in La Guaira, Greater Caracas, and other affected regions.
If you have family or friends in Venezuela and have not been able to reach them, there are some important resources:
Missing persons registry: Families can submit information about loved ones who are missing or out of contact at: https://desaparecidosterremotovenezuela.com
Red Cross Restoring Family Links: Red Cross societies in neighboring countries (including Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Argentina) have activated Restoring Family Links services to help reconnect separated families. You can contact your local Red Cross to ask about support for locating relatives in Venezuela.
Emergency assistance on the ground: The Venezuelan Red Cross and international partners are providing:
- Search and rescue operations
- Emergency shelter for displaced families
- Food, water, and essential supplies
- Medical care and psychosocial support
For those outside Venezuela, the most effective way to help is by supporting trusted humanitarian organizations already working in the affected areas, such as the Venezuelan Red Cross, IFRC, and other vetted relief groups.
Our hearts remain with all families in Venezuela and with everyone still waiting for news of their loved ones.
