At the time of writing, there are 12 main Digimon Card Game Booster Boxes, and 3 extra boosters, with a fourth set to release in the west in late June 2023. For new and returning players, we’ve compiled a list of our picks for the best Digimon Card Game Booster Box and boxes to be on the lookout for. As of the English release of Booster Set 12 (BT12): Across Time.

BT9 stands as one of the most influential Digimon Card Game booster boxes thanks to its focus and introduction to the X Antibody. These cards allow for 0-1 cost digivolutions with powerful inherited effects that monumentally sped up the game. BT9 had strong level 5s, battle protection and introduction of three OTK decks. Featured artwork on the X Record Digimon Booster Box is the aloof hermit of the Royal Knights, Alphamon.
Alongside series favorites MetalGarurumon and WarGreymon, Alphamon led the charge in the X Antibody OTK meta. Until the limiting of DoruGreymon took it out of contention.
Alphamon will continue to see support during future sets. Such as a confirmation of his appearance alongside the rest of the Royal Knights in BT13 – VS Royal Knights. MetalGarurumon and WarGreymon will also continue to see support. Therefore, BT9-031 MetalGarumon (X Antibody) and BT9-016 WarGreymon (X Antibody) will always remain relevant going forward. Unlike MetalGarurumon, WarGreymon’s powerful OTK lines were unaffected by the recent June 1st banlist. It remains a solid option to supplement the Greymon “Toolbox” playstyle featured in our next Digimon Card Game Booster Box.

The most recent Digimon Card Game Booster Box features plenty of support for series staples, such as the previously mentioned WarGreymon. In addition to being easier to find and purchase than later entries on the list, BT12 is easily one of the most dangerous Digimon Card Game Booster Boxes around. Coupled with the starter decks like ST14, themed after Beelzemon, which topped our list of best Digimon starter decks, there’s plenty of potential to make Tier 1 decks. Many of the decks featured in BT12 are self-contained. Decks like the 2 variants of Hunters can be built entirely with the contents of BT12.
BT12 is docked points. This is due to the inflated pull rate of the frankly quite weak and deck-specific Secret Rares for the box. This makes it more difficult to find the SR cards that are often needed as Three-ofs or playsets to build decks. The set itself is still phenomenal, however, buyers may need to supplement their Digimon Card Game Booster Box with purchased singles online.
3. BT7 – Next AdventureThis set is now quite scarce, having been released in the west on March 4th, 2022. That, however, doesn’t change the long lasting impact BT7 and how it fleshed out the Hybrid Digimon playstyle. In addition to introducing new Hybrid Digimon that could digivolve over tamers in addition to normal Digimon, it introduced new tamers. These tamers, designed to be digivolved over, had powerful on play and, more importantly, inherited effects when digivolved over. Blue and Yellow specifically benefited from a long reign of terror in Asia. They had an even longer reign in the West until an emergency ban list dropped for August 2022. Red Hybrid has stayed relevant and consistent since BT7, despite being overlooked due to Blue and Yellow holding the limelight.
Players interested in the Hybrid playstyle should consider picking up this Digimon TCG Booster Box whenever they see it. Otherwise, to enjoy BT7 based decks, you’ll have to resort to singles.
4. BT10 – Xros Encounter
The final Digimon Card Game Booster Box on our list is the 10th main Booster Box. Xros Encounter, focussed around Season 6 of the anime, introduced the DigiXros mechanic. This allows players to play cards from the hand with fantastic on-play effects at a reduced cost. With the parity between ban lists, the focus deck of BT12 was only allowed to run rampant for under a month. BT10-009 Shoutmon X4 was limited to 1 in November, after players were shown to consistently play the card multiple times a turn for its combo, looping its End of Attack effect to reset the resources needed to bring it back out again.
Similarly to the Hybrid meta, Xros Heart and Blue Flare utilize tamers and the new DigiXros to safely pressure opponents. Xros Heart received support in BT12, thanks to Mervamon and Xros 7 Superior Mode. Blue Flare is receiving support in EX4, come June 2023.
