CloudKid, a Berlin-based music label and curation channel, has partnered with Welsh college Coleg y Cymoedd to support the institution’s Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Esports.

The channel will provide students in the course with its music database to create content for educational purposes. Moreover, CloudKid will look to support students’ streaming and broadcasting ventures through DMCA-free music and guest lectures.

CloudKid started off as a YouTube music curation channel in 2013 and has since amassed over 5m subscribers. Following this rise, the company has since ventured into becoming a label to support new artists.

According to the college’s website, The Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Esports at Coleg y Cymoedd in Aberdare is a two-year course that will provide students with an understanding of the industry as well as skills that will be relevant to tournament management and content creation. 

In recent years, esports has started to ingrain itself more and more into educational institutions within the UK, particularly at the university and collegiate level. 

Earlier this year, Irish esports organisation WYLDE, which is backed by former Olympian Usain Bolt, teamed up with higher education college Belfast Metropolitan College to launch the first esports-focused degree in Northern Ireland.

Outside of educational opportunities, more and more competitive ventures have arisen for students at colleges and universities. This has led to university and collegiate esports competitions such as NUEL and NSE.
