An early Rolex Submariner Date (Ref. 1680) matte dial that, sadly, has seen better days -- but still could be of use to someone... I know that there are people who clean/restore such dials and -- personally -- I would rather have an imperfect, but correct dial than a complete redial or an "incorrect" (resp. "service" dial) in my watch.
In particular, I believe that this is a beaten-up example of a desirable "Mark 2 thick" dial.
The dial shows "character" (i.e. water damage and scratches), but is guaranteed to be 100% genuine (i.e. NOT refinished, NOT re-lumed, etc.)
I understand that this particular dial (like all "Mark 2" 1680 dials) was made for Rolex by Beyeler (a famous Geneva-based Rolex OEM dial supplier). As expected, it is properly signed "Beyeler Geneve" on the back.
BTW, both dial feet are present and in perfect condition.
As always, please refer to the pictures for the best assessment of the condition:
Price: $1k
The dial is currently in New England (USA) and a face-to-face transaction in Western MA is encouraged. Otherwise, fully insured shipping within the U.S. would be $25.
For overseas buyers, shipping will be at cost and I would be happy to let the buyer choose the shipping method. (Worldwide Registered Air Mail would be about $30 but can be insured only up to about $50. If you desire full insurance, we would have to use Express Mail (EMS) or FedEx.)
3 day return policy if the dial is not as described or does not match the pictures. Shipping fees are not refundable and the dial would have to be returned in the same condition as received.
