I needed 2 bracelets restored and so after speaking with the 3 best known places to do that, decided on one of them because the owner said it would be 7-10 days..
30+ days later they won’t reply. Last time they replied I would have my bracelets shortly. That was going on 2 weeks ago. No response since, despite 2 more emails and another voice message.
I have a really hard time with guys that are like this. Guys that are quick to respond to pre-sales but then ghost you after they have you by your… bracelets.
It’s not just unprofessional, it’s profoundly disrespectful. And the mark of a passive aggressive cowards. Guys like this would never act like this, if they were close enough to get bitch slapped, but they hide behind 800 number that only goes to voicemail and emails.
It REALLY bothers me. More than it should. But I’ve been polite and non threatening up to now, but my patience for this treatment has worn thin.
I’m 52 now, and I’ve mellowed some in my old age. The younger version of me would have paid them a visit and likely punched their teeth down their throat. However, I also know things sometimes can go very wrong, and people are really struggling with all sorts of issues, so I try to give everyone extra space. But there’s a limit and I’ve reached it.
What do you do in situations like this? Burn them in public, by adding their name to this post? Add a ‘blacklist’ page on the new watch collector website and add them as the only listing, with a link to the entire email string? Call the police and report them as stolen, and ask to have them fetch them for me?
They still have the bracelets. At some point I do expect them back, but i don’t want them to send them back unfinished at this point, after burning 5 weeks. I had one as good as sold, and the guy is waiting for me to get them back. So actually there are 2 of us waiting and wondering what is going on.
Searches for complaints show very mixed review. Most of them are extremely favorable. Did the work better than expected, etc. but then there seems to be another group - not insignificant in size - that all have the same grievances as me; they needlessly ignore you, in what seems to be a passive aggressive manner. They are irritated with you because you are irritated with them.
So one school of thought is just drop it. Assume they will eventually give you back your brackets and move on. Another variant is wait until you get them back and then torch them at the better business borough.
I’ll be honest, I’ve dealt in a lot of industries in my life but I never expected the Watch industry to be so full of unethical dirtbags. Lots of guys running around posturing as stand up guys only to find out they are common thieves and fraudsters. These guys are just assholes. But even so, they need taught a lesson.
How would you handle this?
