Dear all,
I am looking to purchase either a 5-digit platinum or white gold Day Date (likely 18206 or 18239) and am trying to work out which i prefer... and whether one is worth twice the other. Having stared at plenty of them for a quite a while, i noticed something about the platinum (except the metal itself) looked brighter on the dial, and wondered if the silver was different or whether it just contrasted with the blueish shade of metal... but then i noticed the brilliant (and perhaps the baguette) diamonds on the dials appear to be (physically) larger on the platinum than those on the gold - or are my eyes deceiving me...? Really adds something to the sparkle of the platinum's dial.
If so, that was a nice, subtle, touch while it lasted...the practice seemed to stop at 6-digits in 2000, where diamond sizes seem the same for platinum and gold models.
