Snapdragon Pro Series’ Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Season 3 Finals will take place at Istora Senayan arena in Jakarta, Indonesia in July 2023.
Part of ESL FACEIT Group’s mobile esports structure, the MLBB Season 3 finals will feature 12 teams and a prize pool of up to $150,000 (~£119,000).
This is Snapdragon Pro Series’ first-ever stadium-scale event, with the arena having a capacity of 7,166 spectators. Istora Senayan, which primarily hosts badminton events, was originally announced as a venue for MLBB’s M4 World Championship before the location was changed.
To qualify for the LAN event, Snapdragon Pro Series competitors will undergo a series of qualifiers across South-East Asia. MLBB players from Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia will sign up to compete in two single-elimination qualifiers, with 32 teams advancing to the Mobile Open Final.
The four Mobile Open finalists will compete in the ‘Challenge Season’, which will include 12 invited teams and an online group stage. The top six teams from the season will qualify for the MLBB Season 3 Finals alongside a further six invited team from the MPL, Mobile Legends’ premier esports ecosystem.
Having the event take place in Indonesia is not unexpected, given MLBB’s popularity within the country. MPL Indonesia, the country’s top-tier esports competition, recently recorded a peak viewership of 1.88m for its 11th season, according to Esports Charts.
Michael Kiefer, Head of Product Asia at ESL FACEIT Group, commented: “For the upcoming season of MLBB in the Snapdragon Pro Series, it was important for us to focus on every aspect of the format of the competition. The result is a massive, multi-stage tournament that is sure to get every MLBB fan across South-East Asia excited.
“With a prize pool of up to $150,000, there’s every reason to be. We can’t wait to show fans what we’ve got planned for both the online season broadcast, and our offline Season 3 Finals this July.”
