So today I took a bit of a dive into the dustier corners of my watch box and decided to let this catch a bit of sunlight. It must have been a year since I last wore that one, much longer still since I last wore it for any significant amount of time. But I really should have.
In a way, it’s the “original” with respect to every modern GMT, going back to when you had THE steel GMT, not A steel GMT.
And to this day, it has retained all its elegance. If anything, the fact it used to be insufficiently distinctive back in the day, when everything ceramic at Rolex was black, makes it extremely distinctive today in the colorful bezel environment that has materialized since. Also makes it much easier to wear than the Pepsi. In my eyes at least.
Hard to believe, it even has green lume still.
How do you think this has aged? Is it better today than when it came out or should it be forgotten as something we’ve evolved away from?
