PUBG Mobile was released back in 2018 and has played a big role in redefining the mobile gaming industry. The game, developed by Tencent’s Lightspeed Studio (formerly Lightspeed and Quantum), is a mobile remake of the popular genre-defining PUBG: Battlegrounds.
Since then, the game has gone on to rack millions of downloads, but if you are wondering how many players PUBG Mobile exactly has, here’s the answer to that question.
How many downloads does PUBG Mobile have?
Unlike games on Steam, the number of active users for PUBG Mobile is information only the developer is aware of. However, the amount of downloads that the game has is available information.
PUBG Mobile, being one of the most popular games on Android and iOS, has racked up more than 1 billion downloads. Obviously, this doesn’t mean that the game has nearly as many daily active users.
However, with such a large download count, PUBG Mobile should be easily racking up more than 50 million monthly average users.
Additionally, PUBG:M isn’t the only version of the game available. The game has separate versions in South Korea, China, and India. It’s unclear if the 1 billion downloads number includes installation statistics from these regions, though.
Furthermore, the game has been a cash-making cow for its developer. According to a May 2022 report by Sensor Tower, the game has collected more than $8 billion in revenue worldwide. This number has likely grown a lot until today.
Plenty standing in the game’s way
PUBG Mobile might have racked up a huge player base globally, but it hasn’t come without its fair share of scrutiny. The game became so popular that it was banned in countries like Jorden, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan for being “too addictive.”

Additionally, before 2020, the most popular region for PUBG Mobile was India. However, the game was banned in the country for alleged data privacy concerns in September 2020. The battle royale title is back in the country now, though, but as a different game with distinct servers. It’s called Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI).
