No charges will be filed against the man who was arrested and accused of firing shots inside City Nightz nightclub on July 2. He’s set to be released from jail Thursday afternoon.
Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett released information stating that it appears Brandon Young was acting in self-defense in response to shots fired by two different gunmen within the bar located in Wichita’s Old Town entertainment district. Capt. Michael Failing said two men got into an argument over fireworks shortly before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of G Street.
The pair’s argument escalated, and one man attempted to run over the other with his truck. The man who was the target of the vehicle managed to get out of the way and began shooting at the man driving the truck, Failing said.
A bullet went through the windshield of the vehicle and struck the man driving in the head. He was treated and released, Failing said.
Failing said neither man had life-threatening injuries, and no charges had been filed.

The shooting happened around 4 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Jendale Court. The St. Louis County Police Department reports that Peter Cooper, 35, of Florissant, died in the shooting. Another woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, Cooper and the woman were walking to a barbecue event on Jendale Court when they reportedly saw Speed yelling. Investigators say Speed ran out from his home moments later and started firing shots from a handgun.
While outside on his porch, Speed reportedly threatened to kill Cooper and the woman over various reasons. Neighbors noticed the two in the street and tried to render aid. Speed then fired more shots, striking the woman in the arm.
The boyfriend of the female victim then pulled out a handgun and fired shots in self-defense. Speed went back inside his home and barricaded himself. Per court documents, a brief standoff ensured and Speed live-streamed the incident on Facebook…

Just after 3:30 a.m., police said three men, ages 26, 33 and 31 were standing near their vehicle when they were approached by a man displaying a gun.

A man was shot Thursday after attempting to steal a car in north Harris County, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
This happened in the 14100 block of Sunwick Street, which is just west of the Hardy Toll Road. The sheriff tweeted about the incident shortly after 8:15 p.m.
The sheriff said the attempted robber was confronted by the car owner in the process of the robbery. That’s when the attempted robber pulled out a gun and shot at the car owner.

A man shot and killed two people he says tried to rob him at a South Side ATM, according to San Antonio police Chief William McManus.
The shooting happened before noon on Friday at a Chase bank near SW Military Drive and Interstate 35, not far from South Park Mall.
McManus said a man drove up to an ATM to withdraw money and saw two people approach him, who he believed were trying to rob him.

The shooting happened just before 3:30 a.m. at Corner Mart on 2600 Clarksville Pike. MNPD said they are investigating a self-defense claim following the fatal shooting of 25-year-old DeCarlos Groves.
Police said a review of the store’s video surveillance showed Groves pulled out a handgun during an apparent robbery attempt. Groves then jumped over the county, landing on top of the store clerk, 20-year-old Peter Fang, police said.
Fang then got a weapon from his shirt pocket which discharged as Groves landed on him, striking Groves, police said.
According to police, as the struggled continued, additional shots were fired from Fang’s gun and Groves fell to the floor. That’s when Fang called the police…

Officers responded to reports of shots fired at the Cook Out restaurant on Memorial Blvd. at 1:03 a.m., Saturday, July 8. They found 31-year-old Tony Fuller with a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by personnel with Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services. His 18-year-old brother, Jacob Hawkins, was also shot and taken to the hospital where he died a short time later.
The preliminary investigation shows Fuller and Hawkins first approached the car, with the shooter inside, at a McDonald’s drive-thru on S. Rutherford Blvd. The driver of the car quickly left the scene to get away from them. According to the investigation, the brothers spotted the same car in the Cook Out drive-thru line. Fuller and Hawkins approached the car, and the three men began to argue. The brothers started assaulting the 21-year-old as he sat the in the backseat. He took out his gun and fired, striking them both; he claims in self-defense. The shooter was one of those who called 9-1-1 to report the shooting…
“There were several bystanders, who didn’t know any of those involved, who voluntarily told detectives what they witnessed, and some provided video,” said Criminal Investigations Division Crimes Against Persons Unit Lieutenant James Abbott, “The witnesses’ account is consistent with the shooter’s claims and with the evidence we collected at the scene.”

A man is dead after police say a bystander shot and killed him when he heard three women calling for help inside a room at Hotel Indigo on 211 Clay Ave. The shooter cooperated with police and was not arrested.
Police say it started around 3 a.m. when a man staying at the hotel heard people yelling for help in the hallway.

Eighteen-year-old Kyler Matthews died after being shot during an alleged attempted armed robbery of a “lawfully armed” man in Greenwood, Mississippi, Sunday.

A pizza delivery driver shot a suspect during a carjacking and attempted robbery in Philadelphia’s Chestnut Hill neighborhood.
Police said the incident happened as the 21-year-old pulled up to the Village at Chestnut Hill apartments on the 7700 block of Stenton Avenue late Tuesday night.
Two masked men with guns forced the delivery driver back into his vehicle, police said.
Police said the delivery driver from Queen B’s eventually got out of the car and one suspect followed him. That’s when the shooting occurred.
