Bookmaker BetBoom and tournament organiser FISSURE have unveiled BetBoom Dacha, a $250,000 (~£196,000) Dota 2 LAN tournament.
The event officially commences on August 7th online with the LAN tournament taking place in September. Some of the invited LAN teams at BetBoom Dacha include Riyadh Masters victors Team Spirit, Bali Major champions Gaimin Gladiators and fourth-placed The International 2022 side Team Aster.
According to an announcement by FISSURE, the tournament wants to employ more of a relaxed vibe compared to the professional high stake events that take place in arenas. As a result, the LAN event will be hosted in a private house located in Yerevan, Armenia.
Instead of the event taking place in a studio, it will feature a more relaxed setting with a pool and grill area. Moreover, the tournament organiser highlighted that formal interviews will be replaced with more relaxed conversations. Notably, the description of BetBoom Dacha feels similar to that of Beyond the Summit, a historical Dota 2 esports tournament organiser that shut down earlier this year.
In total, seven teams will compete in the LAN showcase, commencing September 10th, with only one spot available for teams competing online. The list of teams competing for this spot includes Virtus.Pro, Nigma Galaxy, Nemiga Gaming, Level Up, Alliance, One Move, Luna Galaxy and KZ Team.
Alongside organising the event, BetBoom’s own esports team will also be competing in the tournament. BetBoom Team most recently competed at Gamers8’s Riyadh Masters 2023, claiming $800,000 (~£628,000) after finishing 5/6th. Outside of Dota 2, the organisation recently announced a CS:GO roster.
FISSURE also revealed that the house will also be equipped with cameras in order to garner content throughout the event.
BetBoom isn’t the only bookmaker that has looked to utilise esports to bolster its brand and create an event for fans. Betting company Pinnacle hosts a CS:GO and Dota 2 tournament series called the Pinnacle Cup, which had a LAN event last year in Sweden.
Moreover, GG.BET hosted a CS:GO Showcase Match last month between two of its sponsored teams: Team Vitality and NAVI.
