Solar thermal plants are a shining example of sustainable energy solutions. These facilities generate electricity by converting sunlight into heat, which powers a thermodynamic cycle—just like traditional power plants but without burning harmful fossil fuels.

These solar plants use big mirrors, called heliostats, that can move to follow the sun and collect as much sunlight as possible. The mirrors focus the sunlight onto a specific spot, where the heat warms up a special liquid. When the liquid gets hot enough, it turns into steam, which is used to make electricity in a power plant.
